This guide explains how to set up your bOnline broadband router and connect your devices to the internet. You can connect wirelessly over Wi-Fi or with the yellow Ethernet cable.

Check the contents of your box

Make sure your box contains all the items shown below. If anything is missing, contact bOnline.

Contents of a bOnline broadband router box: router, power adapter, broadband cable, Ethernet cable and microfilters.

Step 1: Find your master socket

Your master socket is the main phone socket in your premises. It is usually larger than a standard phone socket and often has a horizontal line across the middle.

The type of master socket you have determines whether you need to use microfilters.

Step 2: Unplug everything from your master socket

Unplug everything from your master socket and all other sockets in your premises, including:

  • Phone cables

  • Microfilters

  • Splitters

Step 3: Connect your microfilters (standard master socket only)

If you have a pre-filtered master socket, skip this step and go to Step 4.

  1. Plug a microfilter into your master socket.

  2. If you have a phone, connect the phone cable to the phone port on the microfilter.

  3. Plug a microfilter into every other socket you are using. Additional microfilters can be bought from any electronics retailer.

Please note: never plug microfilters into other microfilters. This will affect your broadband performance.
