This article explains how to connect and configure your TP-Link EX230 Wi-Fi router. The EX230 does not have a built-in modem and connects to the internet using an Ethernet cable from your fibre box.
Before you start
Router model: TP-Link EX230 (Wi-Fi router)
Requirements: you will need an active fibre connection with a fibre box (ONT) installed at your premises. Place the router in a central, open location for the best Wi-Fi coverage.
Hardware connections
Connect an Ethernet cable from your fibre box (ONT) to the WAN port on the router.
Connect the power adapter and switch the router on.
To connect a computer using a cable, use any of the orange LAN ports.
Software setup using the Aginet app (recommended)
Download the TP-Link Aginet app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Connect your phone to the default Wi-Fi network. The network name (SSID) and password are on the sticker on the bottom of the router.
Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to create your admin account and set your internet connection type.
Software setup using a web browser
Connect to the router's Wi-Fi network, or connect a computer to one of the LAN ports using an Ethernet cable.
Open a browser and go to http://tplinkwifi.net or 192.168.0.1.
Create a login password when prompted.
Follow the Quick Setup Wizard:
Time Zone: select your region.
Connection Type: select Dynamic IP (the most common setting for fibre connections).
Wi-Fi Settings: set your preferred network name (SSID) and password.
LED indicator guide
Power (solid): the router is on and ready.
Internet (solid): internet connection is active.

Wi-Fi (solid): wireless signals (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) are active.
How to Factory Reset Your TP-Link EX230
If you cannot log in to your router settings or need to restore the router to its default configuration, you can perform a factory reset.
Please note: A factory reset will erase all custom settings, including your Wi-Fi network name and password. Your broadband connection will reconfigure automatically once the router restarts.
Make sure the router is powered on.
Locate the Reset button on the back of the router. It is a small pinhole.
Use a paperclip or pin to press and hold the Reset button for 10 to 15 seconds.
Release the button when the LED lights start flashing.
Wait a few minutes for the router to fully restart. Your broadband connection will reconfigure automatically.
Default Admin Login After a Factory Reset
Once the router has restarted, open a browser and go to http://tplinkwifi.net or 192.168.0.1 to log in to the router settings.
There is no username field. Enter the admin password only.
The default admin password is superB0n1ine.
Please note: The admin password is different to your Wi-Fi password. The Wi-Fi password is printed on the sticker at the bottom of the router and is used to connect devices to your network. The admin password is used to log in to the router settings page.
