How to do a factory reset on your 5G ZTE MC801A router

Modified on Sat, 28 Mar at 7:31 AM

This article explains how to perform a factory reset on your 5G ZTE MC801A router. A factory reset restores the router to its original default settings and can resolve persistent connection issues that a standard restart has not fixed.

Please note: A factory reset will erase all custom settings, including your Wi-Fi network name, password, and any configuration changes you have made. After the reset, you will need to log in using the default credentials printed on the sticker at the bottom of the router.

Before you start

  • Make sure the router is powered on and connected to a power source.
  • Have the default network name and password ready. These are printed on the sticker at the bottom of the router.
  • If you only need to restart the router without losing your settings, see How to restart your 5G ZTE MC801A router instead.

Option 1: Reset using the reset button

  1. Locate the Reset button on the back of the router. It is a small recessed button.
  2. Insert a pin or paperclip into the reset hole.
  3. Press and hold the Reset button for approximately 3 seconds until the LED lights turn off and back on again.
  4. Release the button and wait for the router to restart. This may take a few minutes.
