This article explains how to set up your bOnline broadband router and connect your devices to the internet. You can connect wirelessly using Wi-Fi or with an Ethernet cable.
Check the contents of your box
Make sure your box contains all the items shown below. If anything is missing, contact bOnline.

Step 1: Find your master socket
Your master socket is the main phone socket in your premises. It is usually larger than a standard phone socket and often has a horizontal line across the middle.
The type of master socket you have determines whether you need to use microfilters:

Step 2: Unplug everything from your master socket
Unplug everything from your master socket and all other sockets in your premises, including:
- Phone cables
- Microfilters
- Splitters
Step 3: Connect your microfilters (standard master socket only)
If you have a pre-filtered master socket, skip this step and go to Step 4.
- Plug a microfilter into your master socket.
- If you have a phone, connect the phone cable to the phone port on the microfilter.
- Plug a microfilter into every other socket you are using in your premises. Additional microfilters can be purchased from any electronics retailer.
Please note: Never plug microfilters into other microfilters. This will affect your broadband performance.
Step 4: Connect your router
If you have a standard master socket:
- Connect one end of the grey broadband cable to the ADSL port on your microfilter.
- Connect the other end to the Broadband port on the back of your router.

If you have a pre-filtered master socket:
- Connect one end of the grey broadband cable directly to your master socket.
- Connect the other end to the Broadband port on the back of your router.

Step 5: Power up the router
- Connect the power adapter to the back of the router and plug it into a wall socket.
- Press the On/Off switch on the side of the router.
- Wait for the Power, Broadband, and Internet lights to go solid green. This can take a few minutes.

Step 6: Connect your devices
Your router is now set up. You can connect your devices using Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable.
Wi-Fi connection:
- On your device, open your Wi-Fi settings and search for available networks.
- Select the Wi-Fi network name shown on the sticker on the back or bottom of your router.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password shown on the same sticker.
Ethernet (wired) connection:
- Connect one end of the yellow Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your computer.
- Connect the other end to one of the yellow LAN ports on the back of your router.
