Modified on Mon, 11 Nov at 8:53 AM

This guide will show you how to set your router up and get connected in no time. You can connect either wirelessly, or with a yellow Ethernet cable.

Alternatively, you can book an engineer visit where one of our friendly and highly qualified engineers will do all the hard work for you for just £40.

Check the contents of your box:

  • If any of the below are missing, please contact us.

Find your master socket:

  • Your master socket is the main phone socket in your office - it’s usually a little larger than a normal phone socket and often has a horizontal line in the middle.

  • The type of master socket you have will determine whether or not you need to use microfilters:

Unplug everything from your master socket:

Unplug everything from your master socket and all other sockets in your office, including:

  • Your phone cable.

  • Any microfilters.

  • Any splitters.

Connect your microfilters:

This step only applies if you have a standard master socket. If you've got a pre-filtered socket, you can skip connecting your router.

  • Plug your microfilter into your master socket.

  • If you have a phone, plug the cable into the phone port on the microfilter.

  • You must plug a microfilter into every socket you're using in your office. You can buy extra microfilters from any electronics shop.

  • Never plug microfilters into other microfilters. This will affect your broadband performance.

Connect your router:

If you have a standard master socket:

  • Connect one end of the grey broadband cable to the ADSL port on your microfilter.

  • Connect the other end of the broadband cable to the Broadband port on the back of your router.

If you have a pre-filtered master socket:

  • Connect one end of the grey broadband cable to your master socket.

  • Connect the other end of the broadband cable to the Broadband port on the back of your router.

Power up the router:

  • Plug in the power supply at the wall and connect the other end to the back of the bOnline Router. Turn on the power.

  • Press the on/off switch found at the side of the bOnline Router.

  • Your line is activated when the Power, Broadband and Internet lights go solid green. This can take a few minutes.

Set up complete:

  • Your router is now set up. You can now connect your wireless devices to your network.

For a wired connection:

  • Connect one end of the yellow Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your computer.

  • Connect the other end of the cable to one of the yellow LAN ports on the back of your router.

For a wireless connection:

  • Press or hold the 'WPS' button on your router based on the router's instructions, while connected from your chosen device's Wi-Fi settings.
