Restarting your router is a quick and easy remedy to most common connection problems. Please note, that you should not restart your router more than twice within 24 hours.
Fast Broadband (Non-fibre)
To restart your router, simply turn it off at the mains and leave it off for 30 seconds.
After 30 seconds, switch it back on and wait for it to fully boot up. Once it’s booted, you may need to reconnect your computer or any other devices to your WiFi.
Faster Broadband (Fibre)
Please follow the instructions that are relevant to your router setup:
If you’re a Fibre customer with a one-box setup, turn your router off at the mains and leave it off for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, switch it back on and wait for it to fully boot up. Once it’s booted, you may need to reconnect your computer or any other devices to your WiFi.
If you have a BT Openreach modem, this will also need to be turned off (along with your router) for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, switch both of your routers back on and wait for them to fully boot up. Once they have booted, you may need to reconnect your computer or any other devices to your WiFi.
