How do I connect my device to the router?

Most of the ZyXel router setup process takes place on the web configuration. This is an online portal to all your router's settings, and it allows you to change your security details, the name of your network and other settings.

On some devices, such as the ZyXel WAP7205, you can use the "zyxelsetup" page by typing "http://zyxelsetup" into the URL bar of your browser.

However, the most reliable method is to type "192.168.1.1" as the URL, because this is the standard internal IP address for ZyXel routers. You'll be prompted to enter a username and password.

For the username, type "admin" and for the password, type "1234" (both without quotation marks). If this doesn't work, check the back of the router for a different internal IP address or different login details.

How do I reset my username and password?

Step 1.  Power on the device and connect it to your computer/laptop with a network cable.

Step 2.  Open a browser and type in your router IP address on URL field. If you haven’t changed it before, you can use our default IP address (192.168.1.1) to login, as shown below.

Step 3. Login the device with your defined password. If you haven’t changed it before, please login with default username/password (admin/1234). After login, go to “Maintenance”  “User Account”. Type the existing password and set a new password.

Step 4. Click “Apply”.

Step 5. After configuration changed, you will be asked to re-login with newly changed password.

Step 6.  Following your administration password change, please proceed to change your Wi-Fi SSID/password. Go to “Network Setting”  “Wireless”.

Step 7.  Go to “Wireless Network Settings”  “Wireless Network Name (SSID)”. Type a new SSID in the field

Step 8. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Go to “Pre-Shared Key”, type a new Wi-Fi password in the field. Click “Apply” to complete the procedure.

How do I factory reset my router?

If required, holding the reset button for about five seconds, until all the LEDs light up will revert the configuration to our default settings. In this state, the router will try to get online and obtain its own configuration for your line. The configuration settings can be set on our Control Pages. For example, from the Control Pages, can you set the router to be a bridge. There are other settings there too, e.g. WiFi, passwords and so on.
