This article explains how to connect and configure your TP-Link VX230 modem router. The VX230 connects to the internet using a DSL phone line or a fibre connection.

Before You Start

  • Router model: TP-Link VX230 (Modem Router)
  • Requirements: You will need your broadband username and password from your configuration sheet. Place the router in a central, open location for the best Wi-Fi coverage.

Hardware Connections

  1. Connect your phone line to the grey DSL port on the router.
  2. Connect the power adapter and press the Power button.
  3. To connect a computer using a cable, use any of the orange LAN ports.
  4. If you use a VoIP landline service, connect your telephone to the green Phone port.
Please note: If you have a fibre (FTTP) connection, use an ethernet cable to connect your fibre box to the LAN4/WAN port instead of the DSL port.

Software Setup Using the Aginet App (Recommended)

  1. Download the TP-Link Aginet app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
  2. Connect your phone to the default Wi-Fi network. The network name (SSID) and password are on the sticker on the bottom of the router.
  3. Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to create your admin account and set your internet connection type.

Software Setup Using a Web Browser

  1. Connect to the router's Wi-Fi network or connect a computer to one of the LAN ports using an ethernet cable.
  2. Open a browser and go to http://tplinkwifi.net or 192.168.1.1.
  3. Create a login password when prompted.
  4. Follow the Quick Setup Wizard:
    • Time Zone: Select your region.
    • Connection Type: Select PPPoE and enter the broadband username and password from your configuration sheet.
    • Wi-Fi Settings: Set your preferred network name (SSID) and password.

LED Indicator Guide
