How to Fix No Service on Your VoIP Phone

Modified on Tue, 14 Apr at 9:04 AM

If your VoIP phone is displaying "No Service", it means the phone cannot register with the server. This is typically a network or configuration issue. Follow the steps below to identify and resolve the problem.

1. Check your network connection

  • Make sure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to a LAN port on your router, not the WAN port.
  • Try a different LAN port on the router.
  • Try a different Ethernet cable.
  • Verify your internet is active by browsing a website on another device connected to the same network.

2. Power cycle your equipment

  1. Turn off your VoIP phone.
  2. Turn off your router.
  3. Wait 2 minutes.
  4. Turn the router back on first and wait for it to fully connect.
  5. Turn the VoIP phone back on and wait for it to register.

3. Check the phone is registered

Check the phone screen for a registration status or extension number. If the phone is not showing your extension, the account may not be registered on the handset. See Account registered on handset.

4. Check your account status

Log in to the MybOnline portal and check that your account is active. If your account has been suspended due to an outstanding balance, your phones will show "No Service". See Why is my account suspended?

5. Check for multiple phones on the same network

If you have more than one VoIP phone on the same network and only some are showing "No Service", check that each phone has a unique IP address. IP address conflicts can prevent phones from registering. See How to find the IP address of your Yealink device.

6. Check router settings

Certain router settings can prevent phones from registering:

  • SIP ALG: If SIP ALG is enabled on your router, it can block the phone from registering with the server. See Understanding SIP and ALG settings for VoIP phone systems.
  • Firewall: Your router's firewall may be blocking SIP traffic on ports 5060 and 5061. Check that these ports are not restricted.

7. Factory reset as a last resort

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, a factory reset will restore the phone to its default settings. The phone will need to be re-provisioned after a reset. See How to factory reset Yealink phones.

If the issue continues after following all of the above steps, contact the bOnline support team through live chat.
