VoIP 3.0 Handset Set-Up Guide

Modified on Fri, 21 Nov at 4:50 AM

To set up a handset with bOnline, the handset must be added to the account before the setup details can be generated. If the handset you have was purchased from us, it should be added automatically.

You can add the Make and Model of the handset on the ‘Users and Devices’ section of the my.bonline.com dashboard.

Click on the Add new device button to check which handsets can be added, as well as which user will be assigned:

Once added, you will see three dots on the right of the added handset to be able to click set up device and get your Set-up String.

Once the handset is added, you have the set-up string and the password has been changed if needed. You will need to have the IP address for the handset with the following :

  • Corded Handsets (including Wifi handsets): Press the ‘OK’ button once for the IPv4 number
  • Cordless Handsets: Press the ‘OK’ button 3 times on a handset registered to the Base station you wish to set up

Once you have the IP address, enter it into your browser in the section where a domain or website name would typically be entered.

If the handset is connected to the same internet as the laptop/ PC you are using, then you will see a screen that will say the "connection is not private" due to the handset not having a certificate like most websites do.

Handset Login Screen:

You can get to the Handset’s Login Screen with the following actions for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox.

Safari will have a show details section instead of the advanced button, and then you need to click the visit website anyway button

Once you see the login screen, you can login to a new factory reset with

If the admin does not work, the handset may be set up already, but if it does not work with the correct landline number, then you will need to factory reset the handset.

Cordless Handsets :

  3. Keep holding down the button and plug the power cable and ethernet cable back in

  4. Keep holding down the button and only let go once the three lights on the base station are solid green

  5. Wait for about 1 minute and unplug the power cable again to turn the base station off (or the ethernet cable if that worked with step 1)

  6. Plug the cables back in without pressing any buttons

  7. The lights should slowly flicker and turn solid. Powerlight first, then the internet light and then lastly the handset light should stay off

  8. You can then register the handset to the bases station again and try and login with the default admin password

  7. The handset will then register and say handset 1

  8. For other handsets repeat the process until all your handsets are registered

  9. If the handset instead says Register failed, turn both the handset and the base station off (Base station has the power cable taken out and plugged back in, handset press and hold down the end call button until it switches off and then do the same to turn it back on)

  10. Repeat from Step 1
